Being a writer is hard. Especially when you’re supposed to be a real estate agent. There are so many things to worry about all day long, and writing can be so…hard. The thing is though, blogging, even a little bit, will make a huge difference in your business. Not only will it help you find new clients by laying bait for them on the Internet, but it will help you nurture and solidify relationships with existing and past clients. A good looking website with a robust and dynamic blog list can go a long way toward establishing your credibility. It can also save you time, in te long run. It’s like this: Just write down answers to the same old questions you keep getting from every client, post them as short pieces on your blog, then package them into buyer/seller kits that become required reading for new clients.
Try to have some fun with it. Here are some pointers from famous authors that might help you get going. All it takes is a little momentum. Once you get started, you might well find that you actually enjoy it!
- “Always carry a note-book. And I mean always. The short-term memory only retains information for three minutes; unless it is committed to paper you can lose an idea for ever.” — Will Self
- “Listen to the criticisms and preferences of your trusted ‘first readers.’” — Rose Tremain
- “Protect the time and space in which you write. Keep everybody away from it, even the people who are most important to you.” — Zadie Smith
